How to solve mysql ERROR 1118 (42000) Row size too large

 

I had this issue with MYSQL 5.7 .

The following worked although it may not be ideal.

In my.cnf add:

innodb_strict_mode = 0 

another way to resolve the error 

If InnoDB strict mode is enabled this error can show.
SET GLOBAL innodb_strict_mode=OFF;
